I experienced a little bit of bad Leopard juju last night and I figured I’d bounce it off you. Please keep in mind that this is one blogger’s experience and not an epidemic.

Just before going on the air to record episode 62 of the PowerPage podcast my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Santa Rosa) stopped pasting and it also refused to allow me to move files in the Finder. As a writer, I need to both copy and paste, so you can see my dilema.

Like any good troubleshooter, I recapped everything I’ve installed over the past 24 hours:

  • Filemaker Pro 9.0v2 (which still doesn’t work in Leopard for me)
  • Quicksilver b53
  • TextExpander 2.0.3
  • Flock 1.0
  • WiebeTech TerraCard eSATA ExpressCard USB driver 1.1.9
  • VZA Broadband Access driver (Smith Micro)
  • Canon MP500 Printer Driver

What I did next:

  • Uninstalled Quicksilver b53
  • Removed the TextExpander preference pane
  • Repaired disk permissions
  • Rolled back to Flock 0.9.1.2
  • Later auto-updated to Flock 0.9.1.3

None of the above worked, so fearing the worst I did a new Archive and Install of Leopard and all is well again with the world (so far) again today.

If you’ve experienced the no paste, no drag bug in person, I’d appreciate any pointers in the TalkBack below.
