Aperture 2.1.1 feature: better manners on import
I just updated to Aperture 2.1.1 and noticed a couple of things. First is the expected change from Dot-Mac galleries to the MobileMe Galley, evidenced by the little cloud icon under projects (I find the little cloud icon kind of cute, personally).
The second is a change in the Import process.
Previously, it was a pain to import a subset of your photos from a digital camera. Importing a subset is necessary because a typical memory card will contain different photos that require different meta data. After importing a subset of pics, the old version of Aperture would ask if you want to erase the pics and eject the card. If you clicked “Yes” you had to unplug and replug the camera or media to import the remaining pics. This got really annoying when importing pics from multiple shoots.
In Aperture 2.1.1 Apple has changed the import behavior to default to import the pictures and leave me alone. I’ll delete them later, thank you very much. It’s a great fix to a great application.
