New 17-inch MacBook Pro begins shipping

MacNN reports that the new “unibody” (anyone else detest that word?) MacBook Pro is now shipping. Previously the product page on the Apple Web site listed the new 17-inch MBP as available for “pre-order.” Some time in the last 24 hours that was changed to “7-10 business days.”

So while it doesn’t mean that you can get one today, the switch in status is the first indication that early MBP17 orders may be on their way to customers.

Anyone received a shipping confirmation from Apple? Or better yet, seen one in the wild?
