Bag Friday: The perfect netbook sleeve
It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a bag nut. That being said the first accessory that I sought out for my new Mac OS X netbook wasn’t an extra battery or a high-capacity SD card (both are practically required, btw) - it was a bag.
The mini 9 has a high-gloss black lid that wouldn’t be out of place on the surface of a grand piano. It’s shiny as a mirror and just begging to be scratched - and we couldn’t have that, could we?
Whenever I get a new piece of notebook hardware my first stop is to Waterfield Designs for a sleevecase. They make one for every occasion - everything from a simple drop-in, envelope-style sleeve to the works with a flap, strap and sidecar pouch for your AC adapter and accessories.
Waterfield’s bags are made in San Francisco and have a top-flight build quality not found in many cheap imports. The size 19-14 sleevecase (pictured) is about a half-inch wider than the Mini 9, but the velcro flap keeps everything intact. Pictured are:
- Size 19-14 Sleevecase, Horizontal Orientation w/Ballistic Flap - $53
- 1″ Suspension Strap and D-Rings - $15
- Piggyback Mini Horizontal pouch - $22
Good stuff!
