mobile_phone_case_for_iph5gEarlier today I wrote about the discovery of silicone case for the iPod touch that feature a hole in the top rear — largely believed to accommodate a new camera similar to the one found in the iPhone 3GS.

We can now add the iPod nano to the list of cases with a hole that could accommodate a camera, though it appears that the nanos will take only pictures, not video. iGeneration.fr (English translation) reports that cases purportedly for an iPod nano 5G have appeared at online retailer Alibaba.com.

In May iLounge posted mockups of a new iPod nano 5G that include a camera on the rear that will debut at the same time as the new iPod touch, “between July and September” adding that their gut feeling is September. It’s conceivable that the new raft of nano 5G cases are simply a reaction to the May rumors.

While a case with a hole doesn’t necessarily confirm a new Apple feature, rumors from Asia that Apple has ordered a large quantity of the cameras could strike fear in the heart of many a Cisco executive.
