FlashiconAt NAB 2007 in Las Vegas this week Adobe announced a new desktop media player for Mac and Windows based on Flash. The Adobe Media Player is a standalone desktop version of Adobe’s ubiquitous Flash Player browser plug-in.

Adobe Media Player is built on Adobe's Apollo platform which allows Web developers to build desktop applications without having to learn complex compiled languages Java or C++.

Adobe Media Player will enter beta testing "later this year" with a shipping version expected by the end of 2007.
