MacBook ProPiper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said that new MacBook Pros are a “near certainty” to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) next month.

He notes that the last MacBook Pro was launched 209 days ago and that, on average, Apple updates its professional notebooks every 182 days. In other words it’s overdue.

Apple announced the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros on 24 October 2006 which is 213 days ago (including today). If the new MBP was announced on 11 June 2007 (the start of WWDC) that would be 231 since its last update.

Hopefully the new MacBook Pros will include:

Munster also notes that the iMac is getting a little long-in-the-tooth. Apple’s all-in-one Mac is updated on average every 168 days, but the current generation is now a whopping 257 days old. The Core 2 Duo iMac (17, 20 and 24-inch) was announced on 06 September 2006.
WWDC runs from 11-15 June 2007 at Moscone West, San Francisco.
