Beta Nazi: No Leopard for you
Does it bother anyone else that Apple didn’t release public beta of Mac OS 10.5/Leopard today at WWDC in San Francisco? Sure, attendees got a copy of the Leopard beta disc, but the media and public were shut out. Is Apple simply preserving the value of a WWDC attendee badge or are they intentionally keeping the beta pool small for some other (unknown) reason?
You’d think that a software company like Apple would want more beta testers rather than less, wouldn’t you? Not to mention the fact the even Microsoft issued several public betas of Vista before it was released. Besides, how long will it be before it ends up on BitTorrent anyway?
If someone has a reasonable explanation for Leopard being a closed beta, chime in in the TalkBack section below.
