Apple beefs up iPhone battery specs
It’s a classic example of Apple’s under-promise and over-deliver philosophy. In a last minute surprise Apple has posted new information about the iPhone battery and touchscreen that is sure to please potential buyers. In a press release posted this morning Apple claims that iPhone now gets up to eight hours of talk time.
This is significantly more than the 5 hours of video/talk time and 16 hours of audio playback that Apple estimated when iPhone was announced at Macworld Expo 2007 in January.
According to the release:
iPhone will feature up to 8 hours of talk time, 6 hours of Internet use, 7 hours of video playback or 24 hours of audio playback. In addition, iPhone will feature up to 250 hours—more than 10 days—of standby time.
Another little bonus is that Apple has upgraded the iPhone screen from plastic to glass:
The entire top surface of iPhone, including its stunning 3.5-inch display, has been upgraded from plastic to optical-quality glass to achieve a superior level of scratch resistance and optical clarity.
Obviously your mileage will vary based on your particular usage patterns but either way the improved numbers are impressive and bound to help sales.
