The mother of all bags (updated)

Crumpler Brazilian Dollar Home Bag

We’re taking a little family road trip to Canada this weekend and I think that I’ve found what may be the perfect bag. The Brazilian Dollar Home (US$280) from Crumpler is simply the mother of all bags.

The Brazilian is not some teensy little slim and light bagette. Au Contraire Mon Frère. It’s big, cavernous and nasty! It’s also not the type of bag that you’re going to bring along to work every day or commute with–unless you’re Heinz Kluetmeier or something. Brazilian Dollar Home, as the name suggests, is larger than the company’s 1-7 Million Dollar Home bags (You’ve gotta love their names). It’s the biggest and nicest piece of real estate in the neighborhood.

Built around water resistant 1000D shell and brushed nylon and 300D ripstop linings the Brazilian is tough enough to take what you throw at it. Dimensions are 17.3 x 12.2 x 9.4 inches for a whopping 976.4 cubic inch capacity. The bright orange interior comes with about 20 velcro dividers to help you configure it to suit your needs.

In addition to a 13, 15 or 17-inch Apple notebook, it can hold two DSLR cameras with telephoto lenses attached and a bunch of other gear (click into their Tech Specs for more detail). I’ve also got my Sony HD video camera, a point and shoot digicam and a metric butt load of other adapters, accessories and magazines in mine.

More about what’s in my bag in an upcoming post.

Update: Here’s a great video of Brazilian Dollar Home from YouTube:

The 7 Million Dollar home
The 7 million dollar home is a more practical bag, in my not so humble opinion. Crumpler makes good bags - there's plenty of positives to be found in photography discussion forums on them.

You would not go wrong to choose one of their bags...... (Read the rest)
