The calm before an Apple announcement
It’s anyone’s guess what Apple will announce at tomorrow’s Product Presentation in Cupertino although new aluminum iMacs (fake pics here) are the odds on favorite. I got a little excited when it was rumored that Apple would also release an “all brushed aluminum 15% smaller” Mac mini tomorrow, but that was quickly debunked. So were the Santa Rosa MacBooks and new iPods in mid-September.
The Mac mini is going to be 526 days old tomorrow and is still stuck with a Core Duo processor. The mini also bears the distinction of being the only Mac on my personal shopping list, so I’ve got a vested interest in hoping for an upgrade.
It’s pretty clear that Apple needs to rev the iMac (336 days old) and the company’s monitor lineup (a whopping 1136 days old) – even if just to comply with the new, stricter Energy Star v.4 requirements – but what else should we expect out of Cupertino? MacBooks? MacBook Pros? Slick widescreen iPods? NanoPhones?
Doubtful, but it doesn’t hurt to dream, does it?
