iPhone can send photos to Web Gallery (updated)
Web Gallery is a slick new feature added in yesterday’s Mac.com update and some iPhone users can now send photos directly to a Web gallery if they have a Mac.com account.
Ususally, when browsing iPhone’s Photos application you have three options when viewing a photo:
- Use as Wallpaper
- Email Photo, and
- Assign to Contact
According to TUAW a fourth option to “Send to Web Gallery” became available some time after Apple’s Tuesday announcements. The feature was most likely buried in the iPhone 1.0.1 update.
Dave Caolo hypothesizes that you have to restart iPhone to enable Web uploads, but I’ve tried that and I still don’t see it. He didn’t sync to his Mac via iTunes to gain the new functionality.
I’ve configured my Mac.com email account in iPhone’s Mail application, fully power cycled my iPhone (by holding down both the sleep/wake and home buttons until the Apple logo appears) and no dice. Maybe you have to have iLife ‘08 installed?
If you have an iPhone and a Mac.com account I’d like to hear if it worked for you. What did you do to enable it?
Update: Syncing to iTunes doesn’t appear to enable the mysterious feature, at least on my iPhone.
