Dude, today is not the day to upgrade to iPhone 2.0 software

Can there be any surprise that with the huge demand for activation of iPhone 3G, Apple's and AT&T servers might be overwhelmed on Friday? Or maybe even for the next couple of days? If you've got a first-generation iPhone, perhaps it would be best to put your Version 2.0 dreams on hold for a few days or even a week. Jason O'Grady describes his own nightmare "fiasco" in a recent Apple Core post.
I spoke with AT&T Mobility Executive Director of Media relations, Mark Siegel and he mentioned that the activation issue is on Apple’s end and that “Apple is working to resolve the issue as fast as they can.” AT&T meanwhile is also telling their iPhone customers to take their iPhones home unactivated and “try it again later.”
Right. One post to an iPhone list said that "patience is the word for the day." Of course, since it was sent from the virtual keyboard on an iPhone, "patience" was misspelled with an extra "a." Just wait. And know that you're saving yourself pain. I'm planning on buying my first iPhone next week — late in the week!
