Kevin Kettler, Dell’s Chief Technology Officer and an active member of the Austin, TX community, reportedly will retire, sources told CNET. His departure is not part of Dell’s reorganization activities

Apparently, word of his retirement has been expected for some time and he recently announced it to his employees. The company is expected to make a public announcement in coming days. He joined Dell in 1996. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at IBM.

A Dell spokesman told CNET that Kettler wants to take time to focus on his family and other interests. He is active in local charities and helped found Charity Partners of Austin (CPA) in 2005.  He’s an investor in Austin Music Partners’ ME Television. And he’s involved in a local wine bar, as well.
