IBM on Wednesday said that it has opened four new cloud computing centers sprinkled around emerging markets. The latest additions give Big Blue 14 cloud computing centers.

Specifically, IBM rolled out cloud computing centers in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Bangalore, India; Seoul, Korea; and Hanoi, Vietnam.

IBM, along with HP and other IT giants, have jumped head first into the cloud computing market either by providing infrastructure, offering services or some combination of both. IBM is building cloud points of presence that allow it to reach new markets.

In a statement, IBM said the Vietnam center will serve government agencies, universities and telecom vendors such as Vietnam Technology and Telecommunications. Korea will target architecture skills and pilots with banking, telecom and other technology hosting services. In India, IBM’s cloud efforts will focus on mid-market vendors, universities, telecom firm and the government. Brazil’s IBM center, which counts Association for Promotion of Brazilian Software Excellence (SOFTEX) as a customer, will specialize in “massive scale collaboration programs.”
