Dell said today that it plans to record charges of about $280 million, or 11 cents per share, for its fourth quarter, $135 million of which stems from a long-term workforce reduction plan. The remainder is related to stock-option expenses.

Dell has been trimming expenses, all part of a larger plan announced last March to cut costs by $3 billion by the end of fiscal 2011.

The company reports its fourth quarter results on Feb. 26.
