Blockbuster inks deal with TiVo
Blockbuster said Wednesday that it will distribute its on-demand library via TiVo digital video recorders.
Under the deal, Blockbuster’s library of titles will be integrated in TiVo’s Series 2 and 3, HD and HD XL DVRs. Meanwhile, Blockbuster will sell TiVo DVRs in its stores (statement).
The deal is an answer to Netflix’s on-demand streaming service and various distribution pacts.
Blockbuster on TiVo will be available in the second half of the year. Blockbuster will have 10,000 titles available initially at $1.99 to $3.99 a pop. Movie purchases will be $14.99 to $19.99.
