Updated: Amazon followed up its iPhone application with one for the BlackBerry, but only folks with trackball devices need to bother with the download. The BlackBerry Storm isn’t supported.

The company said in a statement Thursday that an application designed for BlackBerry’s trackball will serve as an Amazon storefront.

Like its iPhone app Amazon is including its Amazon Remembers feature that keeps track of items in a consumer’s life and tries to match photos with goods at the e-tailer.

Amazon emphasized in its release that its application was targeted for trackball BlackBerries. And it wasn’t kidding.

A download on the Curve went easily and the application ran fine. When I tried to download the application on the Storm I got the following:

We’re sorry, your device is currently not supported.

However, it does appear that Amazon may support the Storm someday. There’s an email notification box for the time when Amazon decides to support “additional BlackBerry models.”
