Court allows Apple-Psystar case to resume

Apple may not get any money out of Mac clone maker Psystar, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, but it can still get a ruling and, hopefully, a precedent that it can use against any other copycat Mac makers.

An automatic stay of proceedings went into effect when Psystar filed for bankruptcy but Apple filed motions to have the stay lifted, according to a post on The Loop blog.  As part of the agreement to allow the Apple-Psystar case to continue, there will be no monetary damages awarded.

The judgment becomes increasingly important as other Mac clone makers start to surface. CNET notes that RussianMac and PearC have started selling clones in Russian and Germany, respectively, and Quo Computer opened the first Mac clone retail store in Los Angeles.
