Poll: What's your dead-finger tech?

They’re not called Crackberries for nothing. Technology can be addictive. With 5.2 million iPhones sold in the most recent recessionary quarter, it’s clear that a whole lot of folks just got to have their gadget fixes.

A while back, former ZDNet Executive Editor David Berlind coined a phrase for the technology that you simply can’t do without in your everyday life, for the one gadget that no one’s going to take from you unless it’s pried from your cold, dead fingers: Dead-finger Tech.

Which one piece of technology — gadget, peripheral or software application –  does your life most depend upon? And how would the folks who live and breathe this stuff answer that question? We asked ZDNet’s bloggers — from the bleeding-edge gadget freaks to the closet Luddites — and their answers have been streaming in. Some of their choices are predictable, like beloved laptops (MacBook Pro) or favorite smartphones (T-Mobile G1); others, less so - from cooking appliances (The Weber Smokey Mountain) to motorcycles (Ducati Monster).

You can tour all their favorites in The Dead-Finger Tech Gallery.
