FCC: We'll be relentless for competition, consumers, innovation and investment
Om Malik has an interview with FCC chief Julius Genachowski and his game plan to be a “model of excellence for government.”
The key takeaways:
- Genachowski said the company will be relentlessly focused on competition, consumers, innovation and investment.
- And that focus means Genachowski will be focused on bringing more than lawyers to the FCC. Genachowski said he wants entrepreneurs, engineers and economists on staff.
- Genachowski wants to bring more mobile spectrum to the market. He said:
- “I think a lot of people would say that the changes in the industry and changes in technology have moved faster than the changes in the regulatory landscape.”
Om conducted the interview before the FCC swooped in with its inquiry on Apple, AT&T and Google, but the gist still holds. This is a more proactive FCC.
