Intel reshuffles its executive deck; Consolidates product divisions
Intel said Monday that it will consolidate its product divisions into one unit run by executive vice presidents Sean Maloney and Dadi Perlmutter.
The move comes as Intel exec Pat Gelsinger moved to EMC to be president and chief operating officer for the company’s information infrastructure products.
With Gelsinger out, Intel reorganized a bit. Among some of the moving parts (statement):
- All product divisions at Intel will be funneled into a newly formed Intel Architecture Group (IAG) run by Maloney and Perlmutter. Maloney will be in charge of business and operations and Perlmutter will focus on product development and architecture.
- IAG has the following business units reporting to it: PC Client Group, Data Center Group, Visual Computing Group, Ultra Mobility Group, Embedded and Communications Group and Digital Home Group. Micro-architecture planning, microprocessor and chipset development, SOC (system on a chip solutions) and wireless teams will also funnel into IAG.
- Intel CEO Paul Otellini will “devote a higher quotient of his time to corporate strategy and driving the company’s growth initiatives.”
- The company’s manufacturing arm—the Technology and Manufacturing Group—will report to Andy Bryant, chief administrative officer. The manufacturing unit will remain largely unchanged.
- Tom Kilroy will take over Intel sales and marketing. He was co-manager of the Digital Enterprise Group.
