Farewell, CTIA; Now, it's (Windows 7) party time

Here I sit, on the floor near my gate at the San Diego International Airport (because the 1960s-style of this terminal still forces business travelers to scrounge for electricity anywhere they can find it) heading back to Silicon Valley after a couple of days at the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment conference.

Following this morning’s keynote speeches, I worked the show floor a bit and have a few more companies/products I want to write about - soon. For now, they’re still just notes in my notebook but I’ll hammer out those posts soon.

For now, I’m changing hats and shifting my focus toward a party tonight - a Windows 7 preview party.

I know. I know. You regular readers are thinking to yourselves, “But, Sam, you’re such a Mactard. What are you doing going to a Windows 7 party?” Well, it gets better than that. I’m actually hosting this Windows 7 preview party. Yeah, at my house.

You see, my cousin Raquel, who works in college recruiting for Microsoft up in Redmond, is working in Silicon Valley this week, which meant she wouldn’t be around the Seattle area for the company-wide kickoff of Win7 preview parties today. Knowing what a geek I am, she asked if we could have this party at my place.

Only if I get to blog about it, I told her. She agreed. And so, we invited a dozen or so people to come on over, munch on some appetizers and watch as Raquel showcases the features of Windows 7 that this crowd - mostly non-techies but definitely curious consumers - is most interested in.

So, check back here tomorrow for a recap of the Windows 7 party in a Mac household. I’m sure it will be loads of fun.
