Apple's fragile hold on reality

Tom Krazit has the story on Apple invoking the Digital Millenium Copyright Act to stop two sites, OSx86 Project and Win2osx.net (no longer accessibe), from publishing information about running Mac OS X on x86 processors. The hack involves a patch that circumvents the Trusted Platform Module that ties the Mac OS to the systems from Apple, which is a no no under the DMCA. You can understand Apple’s point of view–the company sells premium priced hardware–and even poor imitations (clones without the full DNA sequence) of the real Macintosh running on vanilla PCs is an economic and aesthetic anathema to JObs and Apple. But, it will happen…and Apple’s legal measure will only send PC Macs more underground.
