Motorola Q's industrial design gets thumbs up from CNET reviews
CNET senior associate editor Bonnie Cha gives a short video review of the new Motorola Q smartphone which runs Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone operating system. It’s one of very few Windows Mobile phones on the market that doesn’t involve a touch screen or a stylus. Cha focuses on the industrial design rather than operating system and gives high marks to the rubberized keyboard and the space between each of the keys. Slippery buttons and/or key-spacing are two of my top complaints with other smartphones that I’ve recently looked at such as Palm’s Treo 700w and Research in Motion’s newer Blackberries. So, now that Cha is talking up the Q, I’m really looking forward to giving one a test. Other features she points out are the 1.3 megapixel camera and the provisioning by Verizon Wireless’ 3G-rated EVDO network (which means snappy Internet connectivity when compared to Verizon and Sprint’s older 2.5G-rated CDMA networks. EVDO (Sprint, Verizon Wireless) has so far proven to be significantly faster than the 3G networks offered by T-Mobile and Cingular.
