wineraug05.jpgDave Winer is working his magic again. The father of blogging, RSS, OPML, and XML-RPC was growing frustrated trying to get readable news feeds on a mobile device (Blackberry, Treo, Q, etc.), and whipped together a script for delivering clean, text (no graphics) feeds that update every 10 minutes. Check out the New York Times and CNET News.com rivers. Dave thinks he is on to something big: "I’ve not been so excited or so sure about a new direction for mobile technology since podcasting in June 2004. I’m sure we’ll look back on this as a turning point for mobile news." Dave, who brought outlining to the Mac and PC more than 20 years ago, continues his outlining quest, simplifying the structure, delivery and presentation of content.

Dan Farber, editor-in-chief of CNET News.com, has more than 20 years of experience as an editor and journalist covering technology. See his full profile and disclosure of his industry affiliations.

versions of their sites... try http://mobile.news.com/ for example.... (Read the rest)
