Google Apps, Lawgarithms, YouTube futures and more...
This week on The Dan & David Show, David is still vacationing with family in Maine, and due back for next’s post-Labor Day (U.S.) show. I am joined by Denise Howell, who is the author of ZDNet’s Lawgarithms blog, which she describes as "issue-spotting the live Web." Denise is an appellate, intellectual property and technology lawyer, and she is broadly recognized for her expertise on the intersection of emerging technologies and law.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt joining Apple’s board of director, and John Dvorak’s suggestion that Schmidt will catalyze a merger of Sun and Apple (don’t think so). Denise provides her perspective on an effort to wikify the patent process, a California bill that would require makers of Internet access gear to warn consumers about the risks of using unsecured wireless connections, and on some of the complex legal issues related to syndicating material via RSS and Atom. She also discusses the copyright hurdles that YouTube faces a la Napster, despite is massive and growing audience and clout as a marketer.
