I just got off the phone with Chris Brogan who is busy putting the finishing touches on PodCamp (Podcasting Camp) which starts tomorrow at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston. I signed up to attend a while back but until now, had neglected to volunteer to lead some discussions. So, I just went to the Podcamp wiki and added two dicussions. The first is on Little Podcasts vs. Big Media. Not everyone here at CNET Networks shares my opinion that independently produced podcasts are a far bigger threat to big media than big media is willing to admit (is that enough "bigs" for you?).  But, given that I’m somewhat responsible for the success of ZDNet and its parent CNET Networks, I don’t like to take anything for granted and I’m always willing to talk about why. This discussion is relevant to media professionals looking to stay competitive as much as it is to independent podcasters or podcaster wannabe’s trying to size up the opportunities.

The second discussion I’ve volunteered to lead is on podcasting gear and if you’ve followed this blog for any period of time, then you know that talking about what I use for podcasting is one of my favorite things to do. Sure, the Dan & David Show gets produced out of San Francisco by a professional engineering team. But my IT Matters series of podcasts done both in-studio (here at my home office) and on-location are produced 100 percent by me.  You name it. Recorders.  Microphones.  Mixers. Software. I love talking about this stuff and I’ll be bringing some of mine (gear) along, looking to share my successes and failures and hoping to learn from those of others too.  Also, I’ll be talking about some of the gear I’m trying to lay my hands on write now.
