PatriciaGate, iTV, Zunes, open specifications and more...
This week on the Dan & David Show, we discuss the latest from PatriciaGate, HP’s foolhardy effort search to identify leaking board members. The latest news is that a House Commerce and Energy Committee congressional subcommittee asked Patricia Dunn and general counsel Ann Baskins to appear at a hearing on Sept. 28 to discuss the company’s surveillance methods. Both David and I agree that Dunn should be booted from the board, and that having CEO Mark Hurd also be the board chairman creates some potential governance problems.
We also talk about Apple’s new iPods and entry into movie downloads; Microsoft’s Zune; hackers cracking Apple and Microsoft DRM within 24 hours; new products announced at CTIA, and Microsoft’s Open Specification Promise, which states that Microsoft will not sue anyone who based on various Web services protocols. In addition, David continues his rants about the Motorola Q. We also have a podcast of the week–scriggity.
