David Dorman is a man on a mission. In Dan Farber’s interview with him, the CEO of AT&T candidly discusses the market factors that will restore AT&T’s growth. For starters, Dorman predicts that a signficant shakeout amongst carriers is on the horizon. "There are quite a few companies offering business services" said Dorman, "…some with unsustainable business models that are surviving in the short term on contracts….Economics will rationalize the number of suppliers and the value of our franchise will shine through." Citing MCI’s struggle to emerge from bankruptcy, Sprint’s focus on its wireless business, and Qwest’s dealing with various other challenges, Dorman says that all AT&T has to do is execute and it will succeed. In the interview, Dorman discusses his plan is to wholesale VoIP to broadband providers.  Will AT&T flourish again?
