HP 2008 outlook on target

Hewlett-Packard's 2008 profit and revenue outlook are roughly in line with Wall Street's guesswork. Here are the numbers CFO Bob Wayman gave at HP's analyst meeting:

Fiscal 2008 earnings:

Low-end earnings projection: $2.78 per share.
Mid-point earnings projection: $2.88.
High-end earnings projection: $2.98.
Thomson Financial estimate: $2.88.

2008 Revenue:

Low-end revenue projection: $100.9 billion.
Mid-point revenue projection: $101.9 billion.
High-end revenue projection: $102.8 billion.
Thomson Financial estimate: $102 billion.

2008 operating margin:

Low-end: 9 percent.
Mid-point: 9.25 percent.
High-point: 9.5 percent.
Wall Street expectation: 9 percent to 10 percent.
