Diversions: Guitar Hero coming to the Wii
While the Wii is off topic for this space I'd bet that there's a decent sized subset of this readership that plays, or has played, air guitar.
Along those lines the Guitar Hero game is coming to the Wii. Activision spilled the beans on its earnings conference call last night.
Michael J. Griffith, CEO of Activision's publishing group, said:
"We are very excited about our strong fiscal 2008 lineup and our platform coverage. The key difference in our strategy versus the prior cycle is that in addition to full support on Sony and Microsoft platforms, we will aggressively target the Nintendo platform, as consistent with our multi-platform and Nintendo’s expected growth. In fiscal 2008, we will double our offerings on the DS and the Wii, including Spider-man, Shrek, Transformers, and Guitar Hero. In addition, the ancillary revenue streams will become more meaningful with revenue from downloadable content and in-game advertising growing year over year."
Griffith also added that "we are learning more about how to take advantage of the Wii controller."
Corporate lesson here: Sony blew it by trying to pile too many features into the PlayStation 3. Nintendo kept it simple and won big.
