I noticed a few interesting posts on semantic Web themes. Jon Udell discusses his test driving of Metaweb's Freebase. Stephen Downes give his reasons why the semantic Web will fail (good discussion following). Paul Miller interviews Nova Spivack of stealth startup Radar Networks on semantic Web topics.

On Read/WriteWeb Phill Midwinter asks whether Google is a semantic search engine and goes into great detail in analyzing the topic. He concludes:

Google is using semantic technology, but is not yet a fully fledged semantic search engine. It does not use NLP (Natural Language Processing), but this is not a barrier to producing some truly web changing technology with a bit of thought and originality.
