Yahoo names new CFO
Yahoo has named Blake Jorgensen chief financial officer.
The move comes as Susan Decker moves over to run Yahoo's advertiser and publisher group. Decker's move was announced late last year. She has taken a more prominent role on earnings conference calls, but still had two jobs.
Jorgensen, who will start work June 4, was the co-founder of Thomas Weisel Partners. Jorgensen's investment banking ties should come in handy as Yahoo eyes acquisitions to round out its portfolio. Thomas Weisel catered to many clients in the technology and Internet industries. Jorgensen will report to CEO Terry Semel.
Jorgensen co-founded Thomas Weisel Partners in 1998 and had been chief operating officer as well as co-director of investment banking.
The CFO hiring means that Yahoo's reorganization plan, announced in December, is complete. In a statement, Semel said:
"Blake's arrival will enable Sue to devote her full attention to her new responsibilities where she is building on the recent momentum we've achieved with Panama, major new partnerships and our agreement to acquire Right Media. With Blake's appointment, we're continuing to put the right people in the right places to execute against our strategy and adding outside talentto complement an already strong management team."
