SAP, Novell team up on SUSE support
SAP and Novell said the two companies will offer joint support for SAP applications that run on SUSE Linux.
The announcement, which comes out of SAP's Sapphire conference in Vienna, means that SUSE customers can get SAP support through Novell. The support package is called "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Priority Support." It's a mouthful, but the package is designed to speed up support resolution.
As part of the deal, SAP (see all SAP resources) will recommend SUSE as the favored Linux for SAP applications.
The two parties will also optimize SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP. The companies also said they would work on other joint projects.
Among other notable SAP announcements:
- SAP and Microsoft said they will optimize Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for SAP's Business Suite. The two companies will also set up a joint lab in Walldorf, Germany.
- Danksk Supermarketed A/S picked SAP ERP Financials to power its financial operations. Swiss Re, a reinsurer, will standardize on the SAP platform.
