YouTube unveils mashup tools dubbed Remixer
Google’s YouTube added a tool called Remixer that allows you to combine video, photos and music into a big mashup.
YouTube posted the update and said the following:
If you’ve ever uploaded from your cell phone, wished for an easy way to add titles and transitions, or just wanted to remix your own videos, Remixer is a great place to play. It lets you assemble your new video in an easy drag-and-drop timeline, and then publish it right back to YouTube. Your original videos will stay exactly the same.
The tool, which is powered by Adobe Premier Express, seems pretty simple to use–although it would be helpful if I had more video lying around my desktop.
What is also notable is that Remixer carries a big plug for Adobe encouraging the user to try Adobe Premier Elements 3.0. Consider this YouTube effort part handy video editing tool and part marketing pitch. NewTeeVee says Remixer is disappointing and raises an interesting question: Did Google sacrifice better tools from startups to go with Adobe? The answer: Follow the money.
