Committees in the Senate and House are planning to have fall hearings on how the Google-DoubleClick deal will impact competition.

CNN Money reports that the Senate antitrust subcommittee is planning a hearing to delve into how Google’s acquisition of Doubleclick will impact Internet advertising. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported that a House Commerce subcommittee will hold a hearing to address privacy.

Couple those hearings with a Federal Trade Commission review of the Google-DoubleClick deal and Google should be busy on Capitol Hill this fall.

Google has said that its DoubleClick acquisition will provide more relevant advertising to consumers without limiting competition. Some analysts such as Precursor’s Scott Cleland disagree. Here’s a breakdown of his 36 page whitepaper on why the FTC should shoot down the Google-DoubleClick deal.
