Pardon our interruption in programming

This afternoon part of San Francisco suffered a power outage, and ZDNet blogs, as well as Technorati, Six Apart, Craigslist, Netflix, Yelp and other services housed at the 365 Main hosting facility were wholly or partially affected. In the case of ZDNet, there was apparently a problem with the backup power when the power outage, currently of unknown origin, occurred, and some our databases were corrupted by the sudden power drop.

365 Main, which describes itself as the “developer and operator of the world’s finest data centers,” put out a press release today on how online retailer RedEnvelope had just achieved 100-percent uptime for two years at 365 Main’s San Francisco facility. If you go to Red Envelope you get this screen:

Is it a planned upgrade on the second anniversary or a 365 Main affected service with a not quite accurate statement?
