NCR said Monday that it has completed the spin off of Teradata, a data warehousing software maker.

Teradata is now trading under the ticker “TDC.” To reflect that ownership change, NCR shares were roughly halved to reflect the ownership change. Teradata last traded at $26.50 this morning.

In a statement, NCR CEO Bill Nuti said the company will focus on point-of-sale kiosks without Teradata. “NCR will leverage our expertise in the emerging self-service market, including automated teller machines, retail assisted point-of-sale and self-checkout systems, automated bill payment systems and airline, hotel and hospital self-check-in/out kiosks.”

The spin-off of Teradata will also provide another perk for industry observers–the company’s earnings conference call will provide color on the health of data warehousing.
