OQO Model 01At 4.9 by 3.4 by 0.9 inches, OQO’s Model 01 looks more like an oversized PDA than it does a full blown system that’s capable of running Windows XP.  But that — a Windows XP system — is exactly what it is.  The Model 01 is finally shipping according to a story by News.com’s Rick Broida.  Earlier this year, in a Web cast interview with OQO chief technology officer Jonathan Betts-LaCroix, I got a first hand look at the impressive and expensive ($2000) device.  However, as impressive as it is for packing Windows XP into a tiny package, CNET’s editors found that it suffered in the areas of performance, battery-life, and heat dissipation. As a result, it only rated a 6.7 out of 10 on the reviews Richter scale.
