Podcast: Beacon woes, Techonorati revamp, Kindle, ODF and more...
This week on the Dan & David Show we discuss Facebook’s Beacon fiasco for starters. At this point it’s clear that Beacon was flawed from the beginning, and the company and its CEO are having trouble handling the controversy after earning their way to the top of the social networking heap in previous months. Facebook took some steps to fix Beacon, but some advertisers are holding back until they better understand where the company is heading. It’s time for someone at Facebook to step forward and clear the air.
Technorati’s new CEO, Richard Jalichandra, presided over the latest release of the blog search and aggregation service. The new Percolator pages that bubble up top content across six categories is a good addition, but David and I both are put off by the fact that clicking on a blog post or blog link doesn’t go directly to the source page. Instead it goes to Technorati page, which isn’t always the desired action. Technorati needs to include an option for going directly to the content on the source pages.
