Intel on Tuesday formed an alliance where Dreamworks Animation will udreamworks.pngse its visual computing tools to produce movies in stereoscopic 3D.

Dreamworks Animation is making its films in 3D beginning with Monsters vs. Aliens (right) due in March 2009. Dreamworks Animation will convert its systems to Intel-based architecture and the chip giant will provide the latest chips and software engineers to optimize systems.

Intel will also work to develop 3D technology for home theaters, PCs, games and mobile devices. The deal isn’t groundbreaking, but will give Intel some marketing heft. HP got a lot of mileage out of its role in Dreamworks’ Shrek franchise.

Simply put, Intel will be inside your animated features in the not-too-distant future. And Intel won’t be shy telling you about it.
