An apology to the Vietnam vets out there

On July 18, I wrote a post on Microsoft’s search ambitions and how it was an unwinnable war. I made the connection to Vietnam and offended more than a few fine folks that served in that war. I had no intention of doing that but screwed up the following ways:

  • I could have just said it was an unwinnable war instead of tying it to one specifically;
  • I chose a really bad image to go with the story;
  • And I diminished Vietnam by making a connection to Microsoft vs. Google.

For those aforementioned reasons I apologize. I meant no ill will toward Vietnam vets and sorry for any offense. You can follow the feedback here and here and it was fairly unanimous that I was an idiot.
