Disclosure

David Berlind is also a principal and the chief content officer of Mass Events Labs, Inc., a Massachusetts-based producer of unconference-style and custom events. Although some of the events produced by Mass Events Labs such as Mashup Camp and Startup Camp may be sponsored by organizations that are covered by David on ZDNet, there is no connection between the negotiation of such sponsorships and the opinions expressed by David here on ZDNet.

As chief content officer of Mass Events Labs, David also excludes himself from event sponsorship negotiations which, as a matter of policy, are handled by other officers of Mass Events Labs. To date, the following organizations/companies have sponsored (or will be sponsoring) or contributed other non-financial resources to a Mass Events Labs-produced event (MC1=Mashup Camp 1, MU1=Mashup University 1, etc.)

  • Adobe (MC1, MC2, MC3, MU1, MU2)

As a matter of CNET Networks and Mass Events Labs policies, when David covers an organization that is also a sponsor of a Mass Events Labs-produced event, a disclosure will be included with the coverage. Update (01/22/2007):  Instead of providing a disclosure on just those editorials (blog posts, etc.) that intersect the above listed companies, we have changed the policy to include a link to this disclosure at the end of every one of David's blog posts. In the case of audio or video-based coverage, such disclosures will be provided within the editorial content itself.
