Image Gallery: Higgins Trust Framework Walkthrough

Posted by David Berlind

Categories: General

This gallery of screen images shows a walkthrough of the Higgins Trust Framework (HTF) and how personal profile information can be federated and synchronized across sites. In other words, users may enter separate chunks of information about themselves into different sites (domains), and there could be some common fields as well. The idea behind HTF is for users to maintain their own personal profile information and share that information contextually on essentially a permission-basis with other domains. For example, you may maintain your favorite color as a part of your personal profile in one place and then, when you go to a site (for example a car shopping site) to which that color may be relevant, you may anonymously release that one piece of profile data to the site without releasing any other of your user-centric (and maintained) data to that site. Today, the HTF has been prototyped with Firefox and requires a Firefox plug-in. This screen gallery starts with obtaining that plug-in. Below is the page where I downloaded the Firefox plug-in.
