NameVoyager: Really cool information visualization
"Explore the sea of names, letter by letter…watch trends rise and fall, and dive in deeper to see your favorite name’s place in the historical tides."
It sounds hokey but Baby Name Wizard’s NameVoyager is an great example of interactive, visual information navigation–turning data into useful knowledge. Give it a try…it’s an impressive bit of Java code and presentation graphics …even Edward Tufte would be impressed. Thanks to David Weinberger for the pointer.
