Two Lapworks' Futura Laptop Desks go to the ZDNet readers who....
ZDNet’s Deputy Tester of the Week Program has officially been going on so long that we’ve lost count of what week this is. We were out-of-business last week due to a camera failure. For more information on how the program works and how you can participate, see the announcement I made about seven weeks ago and make sure you read the rules and regulations.
Now, we’re back and this week I’ve got two of Lapworks’ latest Laptop Desks to give away. to two lucky ZDNet audience members.
I first discovered Lapworks and their first Laptop Desk (now referred to as “The Classic”) back in 2002. Having had my thighs fried to a crisp many times by many a notebook, the Laptop Desk was a gift from heaven. The concept was simple: come up with something that sits between the bottom of your laptop computer and your thighs that can dissipate the heat and make it inexpensive so that it’s a great value.
All of Lapworks’ Laptop Desks are made of lightweight ABS plastic. They’re super thin, even when folded and they fit easily into just about any bag that’s big enough to hold a computer (without taking any space away from your other stuff).
Last week, Lapworks released its third generation LapTop desk. Called the Futura, this one isn’t remarkably different in size, shape, or operation (referring to the folding hinges) than its predecessors. What makes it different though is that where there used to be deep and wide grooves to channel the heat away from under a laptop, now, there are large open slots. Also, according to company officials, the Futura will be the first edition that’s available in a wide variety of colors. Pricewise, not much has changed. Back in 2002, when I first noticed the Laptop Desk and called it the Lap of Luxury, Lapworks was charging $25. The Futura is $30 and still a great value. There’s more information about the Futura in the video above.
So, who should these two Futuras go to? Use the comments area below to tell me why you should be one of the readers we send it to and by Friday of this week, you could be a ZDNet Deputy Product Tester of the Week. Lastly, no e-mails please. To participate, you must use the comments area below. Thanks!
