A new Targus Toploading Corporate Traveler goes to the ZDNet reader who...

Targus, a company whose name is virtually synonymous in the computer industry with road warriorship, is the subject of this week’s ZDNet Deputy Reviewer of the Week program with its top-loading Corporate Traveler shoulder bag (pictured left) that can fit a notebook computer that’s up to 15.4 inches in size (the size of the display, that is — an no, a 17-incher can’t be force fit into this bag, we tried). Valued on Targus’ Web site at $89.99, this bag (as you can see in the video above) could be a road warrior’s dream true. I’m not saying if it is or it isn’t. It’s up to whoever wins it to give it a real world test and then let us know how things go.
What I can say is that it has about a million pockets in it. OK, maybe not a million. But you get the picture. It has pockets designed to organize everything that you can possibly to keep in bag of this nature; CDs & DVDs, your iPod, business cards, keys, airplane tickets, etc. You name it, there’s a pocket for it in this bag.
But there are some obvious questions that any self-respecting warrior will want to know the answers to. Having a bag that you can fully load with stuff is great. But once it’s loaded, will it tear your arm off (meaning that it might be a candidate to be a wheelie instead?). And, if it doesn’t tear your arm off, will it fit easily underneath just about any seat (aisle, middle, or window) that’s in front of you on an airplane.
The amount of space under airplane seats is getting pretty stingy these days. One good reason to sit in a middle seat is because it usually has more room underneath the seat in front of it than the aisle or window seats. These days, with that curvy metal rail in the way, you’re lucky if you can fit your feet under an aisle seat (much less a bag as well). The window seat is a total crap shoot too (and don’t you dare think of putting two bags in the overhead compartment or the carry-on baggage police will for you after your fellow passengers have beaten your greedy behind into a pulp).
