Intel has been incredibly successful in its microprocessor business and its domination has reached a four-year high reports market research firm iSuppli.

In the second quarter of 2009 Intel’s share rose 1.5 points to 80.6 per cent of global microprocessor revenue compared with the first quarter of 2009, and 1.4 per cent higher than the same period a year ago. It is its highest share since the 82.4 per cent in the third quarter of 2005.

Revenues were largely due to an increase in notebook microprocessors, which were up 13 per cent from a year ago.

Rival Advanced Micro Devices lost 1.4 points of share on a sequential basis and 0.4 points compared to a year ago. More information is available here.
