googlelively.gifA product called Lively was touted as a “second life killer” by some, but today it was officially put on the chopping block. At the end of December, this experiment will officially be terminated, and all employees that work on it will be assigned to other teams within the company.

According to Google, the reason behind this decision was to focus resources on the core search, ads and apps business. It’s too bad that this had to happen, but it’s true that there wasn’t as much as a whisper about the service after only weeks of going live. This is another instance of Google knowing when to pull the plug on things — something that is usually really tough for companies to do. I wonder which service will be next?
